Facilitating Leadership in Rural Communities

AAIS has started working in Berkeley County, South Carolina to facilitate the Rural Leadership Community Task Force.  This group is dedicated to merging community and school resources to meet needs of all students. We are supporting the creation of work, data collection and creating goals and action plans within their communities and communication protocols between schools, school district, community members and business and community resource organizations.  What an exciting opportunity for the kids of Berkeley County!

AAIS Begins New Collaboration in Philadelphia

AAIS consultants will begin work with Roxborough High School
in the Philadelphia Public Schools during the 2016-17 school year
to provide support to increase the effectiveness of their academy
teams' instructional meeting processes and protocols. They will
also train team facilitators to enhance their leadership and
facilitation skills and provide teams with training on
interdisciplinary instructional planning to deepen their
academies' effectiveness in increasing student achievement.
Lastly, a strong focus on Teaching on the Block Schedule will build
the staff's knowledge and skills in working in 80-90 minute
blocks to provide structure for problem, project and inquiry-based
classroom instruction.

Instructional Data Triangulation

AAIS is partnering with Tusculum Elementary in Metro Nashville Public Schools and Nexton Elementary and Whiteville Elementary in Berkeley County School District in South Carolina to conduct classroom walk throughs, observe PLC instructional planning meetings and analyze formative assessment data to examine the overall impact of collaborative instructional planning on student learning.  By triangulating the three types of data the leadership teams create a bigger picture to examine their own practices within the planning, their teaching and evidence of student learning throughout the school.
